DMSEXPO 2012 is the major ECM Enterprise Content Management event in Middle Europe. To support the international character of the event, this year for the first time a special international presentation session is launched on Thursday, Oct. 25th. Speakers at this session in English language are Alan Pelz-Sharpe from 451 Research, Andrew Graham from AIIM Europe, Hanns Köhler-Krüner from Gartner, and Dr. Ulrich Kampffmeyer from PROJECT CONSULT, who hosts the session. The presentations will highlight current developments and trends in information management worldwide.

Andrew Graham, the new director of AIIM in Europe, will talk about “A Sea of Change in Enterprise IT: The Era of Extreme Information”. He uses current data from market analysis to demonstrate the challenges end users are facing today: “We are moving from the Systems of Record era in which our focus was on high-value information assets to the Systems of Engagement era in which volume and complexity and velocity are increasingly dramatically.”

Ulrich Kampffmeyer from PROJECT CONSULT Unternehmensberatung and AIIM Ambassador in Germany, Austria & Switzerland, will present on  „Records Management: Definitions, Principles, Standards and Trends”. He focuses on the 8 records keeping principles and covers the current stress on records management by enterprise search: “We face a battle between order and chaos, records management versus enterprise search. With the googlerisation and the expectations of the mobile users nobody any longer seems to be interested in orderly organisation of information”.

Alan Pelz-Sharpe, Research Director with  451 Research,  London, talks about “Analyzing the future of ECM”. ECM Enterprise Content Management is around now for more than 12 years and faced a lot of new technology trends in the past years. Alan sees major challenges for both, vendors and endusers: “The ECM industry is an ever changing one, in this session we analyze where it is going and what impact future changes will have on end users and suppliers alike.”

Hanns Köhler-Krüner, Research Director with Gartner, talks about “The four Worlds of ECM: A roadmap to Success” (and probably brings a new quadrant about the market). In Gartners view “The World of ECM is changing, and changing fast. New delivery models, new content creation, new end-user requirements, new vendors. All of this seems too fast and too fragmented. What strategy will bring success in this sea of change? Gartners 4 Worlds of ECM breaks this down into manageable pieces and gives advice around how to deal with each one of those!”

The session at the main presentation theatre in hall 5 of the DMS EXPO in Stuttgart starts at 10:00 am CET. Participation is free for visitors of the exhibition. The presentations will be recorded as videos and the slides will be made available some time after the event.

10:10-10:50        Andrew Graham, Director Professional Development Sales EMEA, AIIM international / Europe, Worcester, United Kingdom:

A Sea of Change in Enterprise IT: The Era of Extreme Information

  • Volume: Enterprises are awash with ever-growing data of all types, easily amassing terabytes—even petabytes—of information.
  • Velocity: Sometimes 2 minutes is too late. For time-sensitive processes such as catching fraud, big data must be used as it streams into your enterprise in order to maximize its value.
  • Variety: Big data is any type of data – structured and unstructured data such as text, sensor data, audio, video, click streams, log files and more. New insights are found when analysing these data types together.
  • Standardization: The standardization of data sets across industries, the separation of data from its description, and the exposure of this information in the cloud create enormous opportunities.
  • The AIIM 5-Point Manifesto

10:50-11:30        Ulrich Kampffmeyer, Managing Director, PROJECT CONSULT Unternehmensberatung, Hamburg, Germany:

Records Management: Definitions, Principles, Standards and Trends
